Phoo Chan's passion is capturing images of raptors in aerial action.

His work has been published in various publications including National Geographic magazine and the latest North America (2nd edition) book cover page.

His pictures of a crow riding on a bald eagle in Seaback in July 2015.

The images were sensational enough to put him through an overnight joyride of fame.


Admission is $25 at the door.  Free for 101 photo club members.

Digital Photography Class Fall 2017

This event will be held  9/16, 9/23, 10/7, 10/14, 10/21, 10/28, 11/7  2:00PM Sat.
Location:  River of Life Christian Church
                1177 Laurelwood Road, Santa Clara, CA 95054

This course is an introduction of basic digital photography for those who like to advance their photography skill from conventional point-and-shoot or smart phone camera to a DSLR or similar camera with interchangeable lens.  In additional to give lectures, the class will focus on images critiques and hand-on in the field.  Each class will have a section to review images and associated photo field trip with instructors.

1.    Have a camera, preferably a DSLR or similar camera with interchangeable lens.
2.    Photo editing software.  Classroom demos will use Adobe Lightroom. There is a 30 day free trial version (http://www.adobe.com/downloads.html ) that students can download to try.  If you would like to subscribe to the Photography version, it is $9.99 per month for both Lightroom and Photoshop. The link is https://creative.adobe.com/plans.
3.    Submit one photo weekly. Instructor will review these images for everyone to comment during the class.
4.    Submit photos for competition at competition night.

3.    5:00-7:00pm Photo field trip/model shooting on week 2,3,5 and 6
4.    This class will be taught mainly in Chinese, but the slideshows, notes and reference material are all in English.
